We extend a huge thanks to Puddle Ducks East Kent, North Kent & SE London for choosing The Oliver Steeper Foundation as their chosen charity this year for their annual PJ week commencing Monday 9th October 2023.
Victoria Rowley commented;
The Oliver Steeper Foundation has a close connection to the team at Puddle Ducks East Kent, North Kent & South East London. Oliver Steeper, the son of teacher Zoe, sadly passed away in September 2021 from catastrophic brain injuries when he choked on pasta at nursery. Through the foundation, parents Zoe and Lewis hope this will become his legacy, providing LifeVac anti-choking devices free of charge in childcare settings.
What is Charity Pyjama Week?
Pyjama Week teaches our swimmers invaluable personal survival skills and raises money for charity; all while having lots of fun!
Wearing pyjamas during swimming lessons is about more than just having fun. Most accidents will happen while your child is fully clothed, so Pyjama Week will give a great indication of what this will feel like. It will help them realise that they will feel heavier but they will still be able to do important life-saving skills like kicking to the surface and reaching for the side.
Sponsorship
We would love your little one to be sponsored for completing a personal survival lesson plan in their pyjamas. You can download a sponsorship form here if you want to get started. There will also be charity money buckets at your lessons that you are more than welcome to donate into. Don't have change at the pool? You can donate anytime from now directly to the foundation here.
Thanks to everyone who takes part!
