Since the introduction of the original patented LifeVac® device in 2012, no alternative or equivalent product has been developed, registered, or approved that meets LifeVac’s medical-grade, regulatory standards. Any claim to the contrary is false and potentially dangerous.

Why Counterfeit Devices Are Dangerous, Illegal, and Life-Threatening
 

The counterfeit devices commonly sold on platforms such as Amazon, eBay, AliExpress, Alibaba, Fruugo, and various standalone “drop-shipping” websites are unregulated, unlicensed, and constructed from inferior materials. They frequently attempt to replicate LifeVac’s name, logo, packaging, and instructional material, including illegally photocopied literature.
 

These knock-off products:
 

• Are not CE marked or registered with any medical regulatory body

• Lack any form of quality assurance, durability testing, or manufacturing oversight

• Often use glue in place of secure fittings, making them prone to breakage

• Do not produce consistent suction and in some cases, dangerously force air into the airway

• Are assembled in unsanitary, unregulated facilities using untrained labor

• Pose fatal risks in the event of use during an actual airway obstruction emergency
   

Internal testing has demonstrated that many of these devices fail catastrophically during suction testing and could worsen a choking event, pushing the obstruction further into the airway.
 

Regulatory Accountability & Traceability

These counterfeit products are not registered with any national health authority and have no traceability, no public liability insurance, and no record of lifesaving efficacy. If one of these devices fails during use, no regulatory body will accept accountability, and victims or their families will be left without legal recourse. This is not only unethical, it is criminal.

The unauthorized use of LifeVac’s name, branding, instructional material, and videos is also a violation of intellectual property, trademark, and design rights, and legal proceedings are being actively pursued.

• The presence of “LifeVac – Made in the USA” on U.S. devices or “LifeVac” on UK/EMEA-manufactured units.

• CE and UKCA markings where appropriate.

• Serialized packaging traceable to LifeVac manufacturing facilities.

• Official instruction manuals with verified contact details and regulatory disclosures.

What Are We Doing About This?

LifeVac takes the misuse of its name and the public endangerment caused by counterfeiters extremely seriously. Our actions include:

• Reporting all infringing sellers and websites to MHRA, FDA, ASA, Trading Standards, and other international authorities.

• Pursuing legal action for patent infringement, trademark violations, and distribution of unregulated medical devices.

• Working with online platforms to demand removal of counterfeit listings and prevent repeat offenses.

What Can You Do to Help?

If you see a product claiming to be a “choking rescue device” or “anti-choking device” resembling LifeVac but not sold by an authorized LifeVac distributor, report it to your national medical regulatory body and the platform on which it is being sold.
