A legacy.. Olivers Foundation...
A legacy.. how it began..
After the heartbreaking loss of our beloved son, Oliver, in September 2021 following a tragic choking incident at Jellybeans Day Nursery in Ashford, Kent, and his passing at the Evelina Children’s Hospital our lives were forever changed. In the depths of our grief, we knew we had to do something meaningful in his name.

Out of that pain, The Oliver Steeper Foundation was born in mid-2023, created with love and determination to honour Oliver’s memory and to help protect other families from facing the devastation we have endured. Our mission is simple yet vital: to ensure that every registered early years childcare setting in the UK has access to a LifeVac device, a tool that could save a child’s life when every second counts.

We miss Oliver every single day. His beautiful smile, his cheeky laugh, and the light he brought into our world are etched into our hearts forever. Though his time with us was far too short, his legacy will live on, bringing hope, safety, and love to others in his name.
Our vision...
We are currently fundraising for The Oliver Steeper Foundation, a charity officially registered with the Charity Commission and created with one clear purpose: to save lives in memory of our beautiful son, Oliver.

Our mission is to provide life-saving LifeVac devices to every registered childcare and early years setting across the UK. These simple but powerful tools can mean the difference between life and death in a choking emergency and we believe no child should be without that protection.

Reaching this goal is no small task. It requires time, dedication, and significant funding but we are committed to making it happen, no matter how long it takes. Each LifeVac device costs between £60 and £85, and every single donation, no matter the size brings us one step closer to protecting another child. If you would like to support our mission, please visit our JustGiving page by clicking here.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Your kindness is helping us build a legacy of hope, safety, and love in Oliver’s name and for that, we are eternally grateful.

LifeVac® has two sonic welded discs for interchangeable sized masks, as one size will not “fit all” and a one-way valve system which means when applied no air can be forced through the interchangeable sized masks. LifeVac’s® non-invasive design means no tubes can push the tongue back or obstruct further down in a panic situation. This also means no tubes can become blocked rendering the device useless if only part of the obstruction has been removed.

Eat Safe campaign, in memory of Oliver...
EatSafe is a campaign designed to support safer eating in early years non-familial settings. The campaign was developed following the tragic death of Oliver Steeper in September 2021. A child dies in the UK every month from choking and hundreds more require hospital treatment. EatSafe has been designed to support early years settings providers and management to ensure the safeguarding of mealtimes and to reduce the risk of serious harm whilst eating. Whist primarily designed for early years settings, the principles and guidance may also be of use to other settings providing food to children in their care.
